Uplink and Downlink Decoupling and BBU Interconnection
Solution
In dual-subrack scenarios, the uplink and downlink decoupling feature requires dual-subrack BBU
interconnection.
Dual-subrack BBU interconnection is interconnected through the CI port and the HEI port.
 CI port interconnection is the interconnection solution between main control boards in different BBUs.
 CI interconnection solution 1 - cable interconnection
 CI interconnection solution 2 - optical cable interconnection
 HEI port interconnection is the interconnection solution between baseband processing boards in different
BBUs.
 HEI interconnection solution 1 - cable interconnection
 HEI interconnection solution 2 - optical cable interconnection
Key points: This slide describes the interconnection solution for uplink and downlink decoupling.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Huawei confidential. Page 26

Principles of Uplink and Downlink Decoupling (SUL)
The figure on the left is used as an example.
Assume that the NR downlink is on the frequency band F2 (3.5 GHz), and
the uplink of NR and LTE are sharing the same frequency F1 (1.8 GHz).
When the NR terminal is in the short distance coverage, the uplink and
downlink of the NR terminal work on F2 (3.5 GHz).
When the NR terminal moves towards the cell edge, as the uplink coverage
of F2 (3.5 GHz) decreases, the uplink of the NR terminal is switched to F1
(1.8 GHz), and the downlink of the NR terminal is maintained at F2 (3.5
GHz). In this way, the uplink and downlink coverage areas of F2 are
effectively expanded.

coverage, for example, coverage, for For details, please refer to

Introduction to BBU Transmission Solution
LTE and NR co-subrack and co-MPT scenarios
Typical configuration: One UMPTe with the total bandwidth less than 10 Gbit/s is configured for NR and LTE.

LTE and NR co-subrack but separate-MPT scenarios

Typical configuration: One UMPTe with the total bandwidth less than 10 Gbit/s is configured for NR. One UMPTa/b/e with the
total bandwidth less than 1 Gbit/s is configured for LTE.

Electrical port backhaul solution: The Ethernet cable solution is used, supporting only GE.
Optical port backhaul solution: The optical module and optical cable solution (mainly introduced) are used, supporting 10GE.

Optical port backhaul solution:

Types of optical module: Single-mode SFP optical module instead of the multi-mode SFP optical module is recommended.
Optical module rate: The NR backhaul bandwidth is greater than GE. Therefore, 10GE optical module instead of 2.5GE or
GE is used by default.
Optical cable: Single-mode optical fibers are used.
 End A of the optical fiber: The DLC interface is used to insert into the SFP optical module.
 End B of the optical fiber: Provides 2xLC, 2xSC, and 2xFC interfaces.

Note 1: Single-mode optical module instead of multi-mode optical module is recommended.
Note 2: The 5G NR is configured with 10 Gbit/s transmission optical modules instead of 2.5 Gbit/s or 1 Gbit/s modules.

Recommended Fronthaul Solution for CRAN Architecture
Term Explanation:
 Gray optical modules, gray optical modules, and white optical modules: Refer to optical modules with the transmit wavelength of 1330 nm or 1550 nm.
 Colored optical module: A series of optical modules that comply with CWDM or DWDM Protocol.

Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM): Transmit multiple optical waves with different wavelengths synchronously in a single fiber.
It makes full use of the large bandwidth resources in the low loss area of the single-mode optical fiber. Using the multiplexer, it combines the optical waves of
different wavelengths at the transmit end, and then transmits the signals to the single-mode optical fiber. In the receiving part, the demultiplexer adopts the
multiplexing method of separating the optical waves of different wavelengths. Because the optical waves of different wavelengths are independent of each
other, the bidirectional transmission can be solved.
Different number of wavelengths can be multiplexed using different wavelength division multiplexers (demultiplexers or multiplexers).
According to the different channel spacing, WDM can be classified into Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) and Dense Wavelength Division
Multiplexing (DWDM).

AAU5310 or AC Power Supply

AAU5310 is mainly delivered to Korea, where the Centralize RAN scenario is used.
The power supply solution of the AAU5310 must be adopted in the outdoor. Blade power supplies and blade
batteries are recommended.

Blade power supply and blade battery in the wireless configurator are OPM30 VB and TBD.
Blade power supply and blade battery in the energy configurator are DPU40D and DBU40B.

In some scenarios, the AAU power supply distance is long. When the existing DCDU-12B, EPU02D-02, or APU
does not meet the requirements, AC power supply is recommended. The power supply and battery of the AC
blade are deployed under the tower.

Time Synchronization Solution 1: Single GPS Solution

GPS satellite/BeiDou satellite Solution introduction: Deploy the GPS at the site.
Solution features
 Precision: The base station obtains the air clock source
directly, so the precision is high.
 Reliability: There is no single point of failure, and the
impact scope is small.
 Security: Only use the air clock source, which brings
security risks.
 Deployment period: Deployed at the site, so the
deployment period is relatively short.
 O&M: Easy to locate the fault.
 Cost: GPS is required for each site, so the hardware
cost is high.
