GLOBAL WARMING
Fact sheet
Global warming increase in the world temperatures because of the greenhouse effect.
Green effect: certain gases act like glass in a greenhouse; they allow sunlight into the
atmosphere, but they don’t let heat out.
One main greenhouse gas: Carbon Dioxide (CO2).
Some causes of carbon dioxide:
·Cutting down trees and plants in forests that absorb CO2.
·Leaving garbage where it can start a fire.
·Turning on a television, a light, or a computer.
·Travelling by car or plane.
Consequences:
·There will be drought, fire, storms, and flooding in the different parts of the world.
·The artic and the glaciers will meet, causing the sea level to rise.
·Tropical jungles will disappear.
·Animals will change their natural habitat or they will become extinct.
·Drinking water will become the most important commodity. There won’t be enough water to
use in our homes.
Activity 02: as a group, answer the questions according
to the fact sheet:

1. What is global warming?
2. What things that we do increase global warming?
3. What effect will global warming have on the weather?
4. What will melt?
5. What will become the most precious thing in the world?
Activity 03: work in pairs. Match words from the text next to their
meaning.
