Objectives:

CHAIN SLING & WIRE ROPE SAFETY TAG INSPECTION

Objectives:
• To identify whether the chain slings & wire ropes in GIBS Banting are in good
condition for lifting loads.
• To identify any damages or defects of chain sling/wire rope.
• To remove chain ling/wire rope if there is any parts of it damaged.
Input:
• Learned the types of defects which forbid the usage of chain slings/wire rope.
• Updated the chain slings/wire ropes safety tags.

• Helps GIBS in strengthening the safety of lifting activity.

HAZARD IDENTIFICATION, RISK ASSESSMENT AND RISK

Objectives:
• Identify all the factors that may cause harm to GIBS
Banting employees.
• Assessing hazards and risks to create control measures
for each of work activity.

NOISE SURVEY (NOISE EXPOSURE MAPPING & MONITORING)

Objectives:
• A preliminary noise survey to measure sound levels at workstations during operation of
machinery in GIBS Banting.
• To determine whether the workplace is considered as noisy
• Obtain information to plan for a further noise exposure monitoring.

Input:
• Identified which machinery in GIBS Banting that produce exceeded noise limits.
• Identified which workstations that need to implement control measures such as,
engineering control, isolation or wear PPE (earplug/earmuff).

• Helps GIBS Banting to comply with the requirements of Occupational Safety &
Health(Noise Exposure) Regulations 2019.

Objectives:
• To investigate on how the accident occurred (exp:
taking shortcuts/pressure to hit production target).
• Obtain understanding of the hazards and risks which
face by employees in workplace.

in GIBS Banting.

• Participated in giving first aid treatment to the

• Involved in interviewing the victim/employees for
the incident investigation.

Objectives:
• Create relation of employees and management to
work together to solve health and safety problems.

GIBS BANTING - pH MONITORING
Objectives:
• Monitor pH levels of discharged waste water by
GIBS Banting which flow out to the retention
pond (environment).
• Ensure GIBS Banting effluent is environmentally
safe to be discharged according to EQA 1974,
Environmental Quality (Sewage and Industrial
Effluents) Regulations, 1979.
Input:
• pH monitoring has been conducted weekly.
• pH levels for GIBS Banting effluent is not
exceeding pH limits (Standard A: 6-9)(Standard
B: 5.5-9)

Objectives:

CONCLUSION:

• All of the activities I have been involved give a wider view on the roles
and responsibilities of Safety, Health & Environment Personnel.
• Got a chance to conduct and involve with inspection, survey, assessment,
meeting and safety briefing throughout my internship period.
• Gained knowledge, experience and sharpen my soft skills in GIBS Banting.
