Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
- blood-filled bulge or ballooning in a part of your aorta that runs through your abdomen

• Causes: Not exactly known, but the ballooning may be caused by a weakness in the wall of the aorta
where it has become inflamed
• Symptoms: Throbbing in the middle or lower part of your stomach, lower back pain, or tenderness in
your chest
• Risk Factors:
1. Individuals over 50
2. Smoking or a history of smoking
3. Clogged arteries (atherosclerosis)
4. High blood pressure (hypertension)
5. Family history (genetic factors)
6. High cholesterol (hypercholesteremia)
• Diagnosis: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computerized Tomography (CT), and Ultrasound
Imaging of abdomen
