 UNDERSTANDING PAST CONTINUES
TENSE
Past continuous tense adalah bentuk tense yang digunakan
untuk menyatakan bahwa suatu aksi sedang berlangsung selama
waktu tertentu pada waktu lampau (past). Bentuk ini menunjukkan
bahwa aksi tersebut terjadi sebelum (began before), selama (was in
progress during), dan mungkin berlanjut setelah (continued after) waktu
atau aksi lainnya yang terjadi pada masa lampau.
 EXPLANATION OF PAST CONTINUES
TENSE

Past continuous tense is formed with the auxiliary verb "be", in the
form of was or were - because of past tense (happened in the past), and the
present participle. Was for singular subject in the form of singular noun (such
as: Andi, book, and paint) and singular pronoun (such as: I, she, he, and it)
except "you"; the opposite which is plural verb is used in plural subjects such
as plural noun (such as: cats, people, books) and plural pronoun (such as:
you, they, we, and cats).Tense generally only occurs in actions such as
dynamic verb, not stative verb because in general only dynamic verb has a
continuous form.
  EXAMPLE OF SENTENCES

1. I was sleeping when the car crashed my home last night.

2. Judika and Aliya were singing together in a TV show at 9 o’clock last night.
3. The rain was pouring heavy when I arrived at home this morning.
4. I am sorry I didn’t know that you knocked at my door yesterday because I was
listening to the music.
5. She was reading a book while the library was closed.
