Aussie

Jaden Danner, Clarice Goodin, and Ethan Helton

OVERVIEW
What is Australia?
Australia is it’s own country and it
is a continent as well. It is
surrounded by the indian and Pacific
ocean. It’s capital is Canberra. They
are ruled under Queen Elizabeth II.
You may know Australia from ,The
Sydney Opera House,The Outback,
The great Barrier Reef, or just from
hearing about Kangaroos.
Australia has 6
States
● New South Wales
● Queensland
● South Australia
● Victoria
● Western Australia
● Tasmania
It has 2 Territories
● Australian Capital
Territory
● Northern Territory
There are more sheep than people in Australia

How They Compare?

In Australia there are about
20 sheep for every 1 person.
Voting In Australia
● In Australia you do not have the choice not to vote. Everyone 18 or older has to vote or they
get fined money.
Hofstede Insight Indulgence
With a high score of 71, Australia is an
Indulgent country. People in societies
classified by a high score in Indulgence
generally exhibit a willingness to realise their
impulses and desires with regard to enjoying
life and having fun. They have positive
attitudes and have a lot of optimism. They
also spend more time leisuring. America is
just 3 points behind Australia which means
that we also value relaxing lifestyles.
Hofstede Insight Long Term Orientation
Australia scores 21 and America scores
26. This means that Australians value a
more normal lifestyle than Americans.
People with lower long term orientation
scores have a strong concern with
establishing the absolute Truth; they are
normative in their thinking. They exhibit
great respect for traditions, a relatively
small propensity to save for the future,
and a focus on achieving quick results.
Things not to do in
Australia
Do not Climb
Uluru
It is also known as Ayers Rock, It is a landmark many
tourist want to climb. However what people do not know
is the great spiritual significance that the rock is to the
Anangu people and it is offensive and disrespectful to
their beliefs. The rock is a sacred to them. Not to
mention the deaths that have happened to people trying
to climb the rock.
Don’t say “Put
another
Shrimp on the
Barbie”
Most people from Australia cringe
when people say this saying. Shrimp
is not called shrimp there they are
called Prawns.
Do not Tip
Tipping is not practiced in Australia as it is in
America. Service workers are paid a fair wage
there and don’t expect to be tipped for doing their
job.
Don’t Surf
without
knowing the
etiquette
Do not be a wave hog. Surfing is a big part in
Australia and there is a code of conduct everyone
should know before hitting the waves. So before
you surf learn the rules first.
Do not believe
the Drop Bear
stories
Drop bears are not real. In fact locals
tell people ways to avoid drop bears is
to put vegetation behind your ear. It is
a fun little thing the Aussies like to
joke about with tourists.
