 According to the Department of Tourism, the foreign tourist arrivals hit 6.6
million and 11% higher than the previous year 2016.

 In 2017, 6,620,908 foreign tourists visited the Philippines marking the

growth of the country's tourism industry. It grew about 11% from the
previous years.

 The tourism expenditure refers to the expenditure of foreign visitors and

Filipinos permanently residing abroad within the Philippines, grew by 43.9%
in 2017, amounting to PhP 448.6 billion from PhP 311.7 billion in the year
2016.
Boracay
It is an island that is
surrounded by a white
beach, crystal blue water and

known as a paradise because

The Boracay Island registered about 2.1 million of tourists.

 According to the municipal tourism officer of Malay, Aklan, Felix de los Santos, Boracay recorded
2,001,974 visitors year 2017. It increase 16% compared to the year 2016. The rising number of cruise ship
arrivals in Boracay and continued international promotions also helped in the increase of tourist arrivals in
the year 2017.

 The top 10 groups of tourist arrivals came from China with 375,284, followed by South Korea, 356,644,
Taiwan of China, 40,802; the United States, 22,648, and Malaysia, 20,585.

 Following were the United Kingdom with 17,416, Saudi Arabia, 15,944, Australia, 15,365, Russia, 14,074,
and Singapore, 9,897.

 The rest of the visitors were the domestic tourists and the other overseas Filipinos.

 It was also stated that April had the highest number of tourist arrivals, followed by the
month of May.
 The Boracay Island Tourism sector was established in the late 1970s. In 1977,
the Philippine Tourism Authority evaluated viable areas for tourism
development. The sector of tourism responded the need of its target
market they build their office in boracay. They also make hotels and
restaurants that cooks delicious and Filipinon food that impress the foreigns
because of its taste. They offer many services that can make their customer
happy and satisfied. Visitors are free to do what they are going to do
especially if there are parties held there. Boracay has also bands that
make foreigners enjoys. They are also free to swim in a crystal blue water,
play in the white sands and be relaxed. The Boracay Island Tourism sector
is now enjoying hosting tourists from various different countries.
 The competitors of the Philippine when it comes in tourism
industry are Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan and
India.

Philippines are compared to these countries because of their

famous island beach resorts that compete to our island
beach here in Philippines. These countries has their own rules
and regulations that implemented that is why their beaches
are more attractive. Their places are clean. no garbage can
be found, and many foreigners visited unlike in the Philippines
like the issue in Boracay that causes its to closed for 6 months.
These countries has a descipline when it comes to their tourist
destination. They use advanced technologies that can make
their work easier and proper. While in our country, some
Filipinos are not following the rules thats why our beaches are
dirty. But being hospitality of a Filipinos are the most
unforgettable thing that we can give to our visitors and
foreigners.
