Before ICT, life was slow

moving and very simple.

Soon, technology has been

changing very rapidly over
the years.

Computers were then

introduced not long ago. This
technology has made our
lives much easier.

It has also given us new

opportunities to do more and
ease our standard of living.
Úith the aid of computer technology, society is quickly becoming more advanced
and complicated.

Everything on how we live life is related to ICT.

The technology and the Internet have eased how we communicate.

Before, people had to send letters to other countries that would take months to deliver.

Now, e-mail has made mailing quick and efficient.

Students could research through

the Internet and gather information
at a quicker pace.

Projects and homework can be

accomplished in a short period of
time. This allows the school to
advance on researching more
information and give students an
advantage to learn faster.

Also, school officials could monitor

Students can excel and
progressively become smarter than

Social networking sites have been created to connect people

and share information in a span of seconds. Twitter, for example is a
social networking site that aims on letting people send messages and
pictures to the outside world. The communication between the users
brings them closer through the Internet.

?n June of 2009, a dispute of Iran·s

presidential election led to protests.

Many Iranians turned to the social

networking site because the news wasn·t
released on television to the world.

They heard that it was a great tool to

spread information quickly and
communicate to the outside world.

The country banned Twitter until the

› elections were over.

This was a powerful movement

that a social networking site
has ever participated in the
media.

As the industry progresses, workers

tend to use the monitors for hours.
Many of them result in strains and
pains while working.

some studies estimating that 90
percent of the 70 million U.S. workers
using computers for more than 3 hours
per day experience it (CVS) in some

Thought as a safe tool to access data and to communicate, the Internet

also has negative uses. Most common crime would be cyberstalking: the
act to stalk or harass someone or others. It relates to identity theft,
threatening and blackmailing. A person who ´cyberstalksµ has the access
and possession of a sufficient amount of information that will embarrass
the reasonable individual through the Internet. False accusations are
posted in the Internet by the abuser to threaten and humiliate the victim.

A terrifying aspect of cyberstalking is when the stalker arranges a

meeting with a young individual to meet up at a planned area.
Youths who do meet the cyberstalker are kidnapped, beaten and
even killed.

Computer programmers create

viruses to harm another user·s
computer.

These harmful programs

replicate and copy itself in the
victim·s computer.

Then it causes a program to

operate incorrectly and corrupt
the computer·s memory.

They can only be released

when downloaded and
executed without the user
knowing.

The government released the Health and Safety (DisplayScreen

Equipment) Regulations of 1992 to protect and ensure workers who use
the computer monitor not to result in any health problems. The surrounding
of the worker should be kept at a safe level where the (1) the environment
is fine for work, (2) the equipment is safe and tangible to use, and (3) the
user software is suitable for the worker.

Parents have the option of safe guarding there households

by installing special software that bans adult content sites
and disturbing themed sites. Internet Service Providers (ISP)
have a standard that gives a feature that makes Úeb

Choosing the right password for

internet banking, e-mail
accounts and social networking
site accounts can help avoid
hackers from possessing
personal data and benefiting
from it.

The Computer Misuse Act

Major cities have cameras installed in busy streets and

intersections. These cameras have the capability to recognize
faces and match it with police files. The facial recognition
technology can pinpoint the slightest detail of a person·s face.
This ensures that criminals on record can be identified should
they cross the point of view of the camera.
That way the technology helps protect citizens and
reduce crime.
