Actolind ®
Actolind ®
Content :
Two effective ingredients combined to maximize cleansing
and Antimicrobial powers :
- Polyhexanide/polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB)
-Poloxamer
Actolind ®
1- Polyhexanide ( polyhexamethylene bigunide )(PHMB):
( Promotes Healing Minimises Bioburden )
Polyhexanide (PHMB) has good tissue compatibility based on its activity against the
acid lipids contained within the micro-organisms cell membranes and no effect on the
neutral lipids of human cell membranes. This helps to prevent damage to the
surrounding healthy tissue.
• 2- Poloxamer
( gentle effective surfactant )
.
Poloxamer
Objective
• To investigate the antimicrobial effects as a possible
supportive mechanism of action of Actolind®
Wound Irrigation Solution and Actolind® Gel.
Methods
• In-vitro testing was performed according to USP 32-
NF 27 2009, method 51 evaluating 13
microorganisms at 7, 14, and 28 days following
exposure to 3 lots of the compounds/products.
Conclusion
• The log 5 reductions in antimicrobial activity in
12/13 microorganisms tested is suggested as a
possible supportive mechanism of action of
enhanced wound healing when using a
combination of 0.1% polyhexanide and 0.1% of
betaine either as a gel or an irrigation solution.
Experiences in using Polyhexanide in the management of chronic wounds results of a
methodical and retrospective analysis of 953 cases
Standardized comparison of antiseptic efficacy of triclosan, PVP–iodine,
Octenidine dihydrochloride,
Polyhexanide and chlorhexidine digluconate
.
Actolind® Safety and
Tolerability
Evaluation of the efficacy and tolerability of Actolind® solution
Conclusion
• Treatment with Actolind®
Wound Irrigation Solution
can lead to
A decrease in pH, which is a
surrogate marker for
bacterial burden
And is well tolerated for the
treatment of chronic ulcers.
Exploratory toxicological data of common antiseptics compared to Polyhexanide
Clinical cases
Clinical case demonstrate the use of Actolind® indifferent type of burns
