a. THE WORLD FEDERATION OF TOURIST GUIDE ASSOCIATIONS (WFTGA)
it is based in Austria but operates globally. It has group of international
guide trainors who have developed comprehensive training that establishing
guidelines and techniques for raising professional standards in tour guiding.
b. THE INTERNATIONAL GUIDE ACADEMY
based in Denver, USA. It is a trusted school for tour guiding offers
certification programs and world-class trainor's.
c. THE TOUR GUIDE INSTITUTE
based in South Africa, trains and promotes excellence and
professionalism in the practice of tour guiding. It encourage tour guides to
adhere to strict code of ethics to serve the tourism industry better.

Used by both travelers and travel professional’s to gather useful
information. They contain travel journals created by individuals
and at times hosted by companies to provide information for
free.

truthful and accurate explanations uttered during a tour most especially
when describing a place and sharing history and events
PROACTIVE
practical and positive way of thinking and acting.

interesting details that is normally shared during tours that may not be
planned or scripted.
SOURCE OF COMMENTARY MATERIALS

a. Primary Data
firsthand experiences are ideal primary source of
information. It is best to share something that has been
personally experienced.
EXAMPLE
In one of Ms. Charie’s tours in the past, a tourist became anxious
and started having panic attacks when he was inside the cave.
Ms. Charie, a competent tour guide in Bukidnon informs
her tourists that those who are claustrophobic are not advisable
to go inside the Blue water cave
b. Secondary information
it is normally taken from reading books, the internet, magazines, and
other reference materials. At times, this information comes from those
who experienced the event firsthand.
Example;
To continue the example given, Ms. Charie brought her American couple
tourists to Camp Phillips:Delmonte Pineapple Plantation, a place in Manolo
Fortich Bukidnon with a breathtaking view of hectare of pineapple plants. The
couple told her that they fell like they never left home. Incidentally, Ms. Charie
has also seen a movie with a sites similar to camp phillips . Ms. Charie has
something to add to her commentaries.
c. TECHINCAL DATA
expert knowledge taken from further education and training.
Licensed and DOT-accredited tour guides who constantly
attend seminars and trainings have more substantial things to
include in their commentaries. These consist of information about
economy, politics and surveys.
Example;
Ms. Charie shares that Camp Phillips, Delmonte Plantation was
managed by American years ago, and no locals can visit the clubhouse
except those people with position in the government or in the high form
of society.
d. CURRENT EVENTS

TYPES OF COMMENTARIES
a. REQUIRED COMMENTARY
includes welcome remarks and introduction of self and
driver, giving of some reminders and a brief description of
the tour, the weather and other important suggestions in
preparation for the tour.
b. INFORMATIVE COMMENTARY
includes describing the city, the designated stops,
other points of interest, and even giving advice to tourist as
they go along the tour.
c. REQUESTED COMMENTARY
must be given when the tourist ask some questions.
Remember to be very tactful when answering questions.

d. OPTIONAL COMMENTARY
it is part of the fun when giving commentaries. These
include anecdotes, stories, legends, simple trivia, and games.
