Group’s learning?
The word "pray" comes from
the Latin word

precari

entreat or ask
Prayer is our direct line with heaven.

Prayer is a communication process that

allows us to talk to God!

He wants us to communicate with Him, like a

person-to-person phone call.
Prayer
is
listening
to
God God
reveals
Himself
through
PRAYER
“Prayer is not learned through the
teaching of others; it has its own
special teacher, God, the teacher of
all people who gives prayer to those
who pray” (St. John Climacus Step
28)

Christian prayer, then, is not

something we do on our own
power “for God,” as it were, but a
precious gift to us by the Spirit.

Prayer, as a gift-grace, manifests

who God is to us.
Christian prayer is a loving,
conscious, personal
relationship with God.

It is an “intimate
conversation with God who
we know loves us” (St.
Teresa of Avila).
Christian prayer is manifested in
concrete forms of action and
works of justice and love.

As Jesus fed those who are

hungry, gave water to those who
are thirsty... and so we do the
same in prayer.

Prayer is grounded in the

situation.
Prayer is our...
LIFE-way PRAYER is LIFE...
LIFE-work All of Life is
Prayer

It is what we call... SPIRITUALITY

“Let us remember that we are
in the holy presence of God.”
A Lasallian does not say, “Let us place
ourselves in God’s presence.” A
Lasallian knows where God is; God is
present right here. Remembering God’s
presence is how we tune in to God.

A Lasallian lives in the awareness of God’s presence in daily

life. Our basic question: “What does God want from me at this
moment?”

Our Lasallian Core Value: FAITH

Faith:

A disposition of the mind and heart

that:
(1) allows believers to interpret, judge
and evaluate reality in the light of the
Gospel;
(2) moves and motivates them to
contribute actively to the fulfillment
of God’s saving plan;
(3) enables them to take necessary
risks and act with boldness in
accomplishing what is demanded by
each situation, putting their trust in
God’s providence to guide, sustain
and make fruitful efforts.
The Lasallian Rosary
The Lasallian Rosary contains a unique sixth decade prayer for the
special intention of the Lasallian Mission, and has been established
along the events in the Lasallian story, starting with the
De La Salle Brothers.

The sixth decade in this

rosary is in honor of the
Immaculate Conception
of the Most Blessed Virgin
Mary, of the Holy Father
and for the intentions of
the Lasallian Family,
especially for the
vocations of the
Brothers.”

“Show the great love you have for Jesus by being eager to talk with him in prayer.”
(St. La Salle, Meditations during the time of Retreat, 144.3)
“I will continue, O my God, to do
all my actions for the love of You.”
A Lasallian is chosen by God to
work through him to make God’s
compassion known and felt by
others.
We are committed to realize God’s
will of liberation and salvation for all
especially the poor.

Our Lasallian Core Value:

ZEAL FOR SERVICE
Zeal for Service:

A passionate commitment to
realize God’s will which in
Lasallian terms is the
liberation and salvation of all
especially the youth and the
poor.

In De La Salle’s thinking,
faith and zeal are
inseparable, two dimensions
in one spirit. Zeal is the
expression of faith in service
to human need.
“Live Jesus in our hearts...Forever.”
A Lasallian knows in his heart
that God is a God of love
because he truly feels that
love in his own life.

Lasallians allow Jesus to live in

their hearts, so that they can
be Jesus’ for one another.

Our Lasallian Core Value:

COMMUNION IN MISSION
Communion in Mission:

Co-responsibility and
collaboration directed
towards the fulfillment of a
common mission.

In a Christian perspective,
communion in mission is
rooted in communion with
God, which leads to
communion with others in
the mission of building
communion in the world.
