Giving Up…or Standing Tall?
I always wanted to do something different from the crowd, but how and
what was a big question. When I was a kid, I used to say to my mom, ‘I want
to do something different in my life’.

So my career was decided right from my childhood that either I’d be an
engineer. No one even cared enough to ask whether I was okay with their
choice or not.
After a lot of hardships, I finally managed to clear
my engineering and made my parents proud.
The workload, deadlines, the ever-sulking boss, working Saturdays and
Sundays got me groping for freedom and innovation. I developed a hatred for
his job that was least satisfying. It proved to be a graveyard for all my ideas
and talents.
My go to place was a cosy corner in a café near my home. It was a place that
made me feel home. I could be myself over there and I could also do the thing
that I loved the most – WRITING. I was passionate about being a Lyricist.
The day had finally come for which I had long waited. It was a day he dreamt of
living through innumerable nights. It was the day of my recognition, something I
had always desired. Today I was being rewarded the Filmfare Best Lyricist Award
for the year 2018.
Relevance to Social Context – The Difficulties of
Choosing a Career Path
❖ Most high school and college students contemplate a career
choice. Many feel the stress of becoming successful and living
up to expectations set by themselves, their families and society.
❖ After all, what is more important: making more money or doing
what one loves and being happy? It has been said that if one
loves what they do, they will never work a single day in their
life.
❖ Youth can sometimes feel pressured by their parents when
picking an occupation. Sometimes students are pressured to
choose the career their parents have already mapped out for
them.
❖ It is common for students to feel as though they will disappoint
their families if they don't follow what is expected of them. In
many instances such as these, students are unable to pursue
their true passion in life for fear of going off the beaten path.
