y The history of power developemnt in Rajasthan goes back to the year

1949. At that time, electric power, was confined to very few towns, and
electricity was considered a luxury.
y The total number of towns and villages electrified at that time, did not
exceed 42 and the installed gererating capacity was only 13.27 MW.
When Rajasthan State `lectricity Board established on 1st july 1957,
power sector in Rajasthan received priority and power projects began
to mushroom all over State.
y Government of Rajasthan constituted the Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut
Utpadan Nigam Ltd. (RVUN) under Companies Act-1956 on 19th July,
2000. The Nigam is since playing lead role in giving highest priority to
the power generation for manifold and rapid development of the state.

Principle Of steam power plant

y The working principle of a steam plant is based upon

the Rankine cycle. Generally steam is taken as the
working medium due to its ability to be stable and
that its readily stable.
y The flow of steam in the plant can be very easily be
understood by the flow diagram of the plant. A graph
plotted between the temperature and the entropy
would indicate the technical details of the working by
the rankine cycle. The entropy of a system can be
understood as an index of degradation of energy.

Wagon Trippler

Wagon trippler is used for Unloading Coal from open top wagons in these
thermal power plants.

This image shows a wagon trippler. mere unloading of coal occurs.

Conveyor Belt
A conveyor belt (or belt conveyor) consists of two or more pulleys,
with a continuous loop of material.

This belt is used in these plant to get the coal to the mill area. It
receives coal from wagon trippler and coal moves over the belt reaches
to the destinations.
Mill Area
A pulverizer is a mechanical device used in mill area for the grinding the coal
for combustion in the steam-generating furnaces of these power plants.

There mainly two types of mill:-

A ball mill is a pulverizer that consists of a horizontal rotating cylinder
containing a charge of tumbling or cascading steel balls, pebbles, or rods.
In this mill crushing of large coal occurs where coal converted into small pieces.

It uses tires to crush coal. There are two types, a deep bowl mill, and a shallow
bowl mill.
In this mill grinding of crushed coal occurs.
Boiler
A boiler is a closed vessel in which water or other fluids is
heated. The heated or vaporized fluid exits the boiler for use
in various processes or heating applications.
TG Building
TG building stands for Turbine Generator building where these equipments
are situated.

In this building turbine is connected to generator then exciter follows it after

it bud duct receives the generated power.

Generating Transformer
This transformer is main transformer which is responsible for the supply of
generated electricity to the switch yard through RYB phases.

This transformer maintains the generated supply .

Generating transformer->
Switch Yard

A switchyard is essentially a hub for electrical power sources. For instance, a

switchyard will exist at a generating station to coordinate the exchange of power
between the generators and the transmission lines in the area.

A switchyard will also exist when high voltage lines need to be converted to lower
voltage for distribution to consumers. Therefore a switchyard will contain;
current carrying conductors, grounding wires and switches, transformers,
disconnects, remotely controlled arc snuffing breakers, metering devices, etc.
`SP Area
`SP stands for `lectristatic Precipitator.

An electrostatic precipitator (`SP), or electrostatic air cleaner is a device

that removes particles from flowing smoke after its combustion using
the force of an induced electrostatic charge.

`lectrostatic precipitators are highly efficient filtration devices which

minimize the impurities in the combustion can easily remove fine
particulate matter such as dust and smoke from the air stream.

<- `SP
Cooling Tower
Cooling towers are heat removal devices used to transfer process waste heat to
the atmosphere. Cooling towers may use the evaporation of water to remove
process heat.

Xüet cooling towers or simply cooling towers operate on the principle of

evaporation. The working fluid and the evaporated fluid (usually m2O) are one
and the same.
Xry coolers operate by heat transfers through a surface that separates the
working fluid from ambient air, such as in a heat exchanger, utilizing
convective heat transfer. They do not use evaporation.
X£luid coolers are hybrids that pass the working fluid through a tube bundle,
upon which clean water is sprayed and a fan-induced draft applied.

<- Fluid coolers

Chimney
A chimney is a structure for passing hot flue gases or smoke from a boiler,
furnace or fireplace to the outside atmosphere.

Chimneys are typically vertical, or as near as possible to vertical, to ensure that

the gases flow smoothly.

The space inside a chimney is called a rlue.

Capacity Of Plant

The current capacity of this power plant is 500MW.

But in future it will increases 2250MW.

Presently there are 2 units of 250MW. And 2 unit if 250MW is

underconstruction.
