    Prediabetes is a serious health issue that affects over 84 million Americans. It occurs when blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough for a diagnosis of diabetes. There are two types of prediabetes - impaired fasting glucose and impaired glucose tolerance. Having prediabetes puts individuals at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes as well as other health complications. According to the CDC, 34% of US adults have prediabetes, making it a major public health concern.
