engage in premarital sex?
Key Understanding:

Premarital sex is killing your

future.
What is Premarital Sex?
 Premarital sex is sexual activity practiced
by people before (pre) they are married
(marital). Historically, premarital sex was

in many cultures and considered a sin by
a number of religions.

Argument between the Philippine Bishops and
local officials over teen pregnancies.

 The government had plans to integrate sex education

program in schools to give awareness to the students
about teenage pregnancy and its effect in the lives of the
teenagers and their families.
 But because of the opposition of the Catholic bishops and
other cause-oriented groups, the government’s plan was
stopped.
 Both government officials and Catholic bishops are both
alarmed in the rise in the number of teenage pregnancies
in the country.
What is your view on this matter?
 Father Melvin Castro said that the exposure of the
young to physical intimacy is the reason for the rise of
teenage pregnancy.
Physical intimacy is sensual proximity or touching. It is an act or
reaction, such as an expression of feelings (including close
friendship, platonic love, romantic love or sexual attraction),
between people.

 Promotion of contraceptives by the government since

1980.
Contraceptives are device or drug serving to prevent pregnancy.
Factors Influencing Premarital Sex & Teenage
Pregnancy

 Socio-economic factors – Those who have little

in life and are poor are the ones who indulge
in sex as their pastime. These people do not
take into account the responsibility of properly
rearing their children, such as providing them a
good education and a more decent life.
Factors Influencing Premarital Sex & Teenage
Pregnancy

 Being addicted to alcohol and drugs – Lack

of formal education, teenage social life, and
sheer despondency (hopelessness) because of
poverty, force these teenagers to engage in
premarital sex.
Factors Influencing Premarital Sex & Teenage
Pregnancy

 Pressure from boyfriends and bad influence

from friends, environment, and even social
media – When their boyfriends invite them to
have sex to prove their love, they do not know
how to say “no.“
Factors Influencing Premarital Sex & Teenage
Pregnancy

 Lack of moral guidance – Teenagers coming

from parents who are not responsible and
parents who do not have quality time for their
children are not properly guided on matters
regarding relationship.
