The possibility of tracking and surveillance of people by government and
private agencies increases as the devices are constantly connected to the
internet.
These devices collect user data without their permission, analyze them for
purposes only known to the parent company. The social embrace of the IOT
devices leads people to trust these devices with collection of their personal
data without understanding the future implications.
Security constraints for IOT are so critical that even analyst firm Gartner came
out with some outstanding numbers. According to them, the worldwide
spend for the IoT security market will reach $348 million in 2016, a rise of
23.7% from $281.5 million in 2015.
INTERNET AVAILABILITY

Even today Internet connectivity, Internet connection reliability,

and availability of required connection bandwidth are still a
major challenge in India. The density of the internet connection
and users are very low in India and telco are still struggling to
provide required bandwidth internet connection in remote areas
and an IoT consumer adoption this can remain the most
important challenge.
COST OF IOT

Indians consumers in respect of any technology are very selective in terms

of investment in convenience and technology. Even some products such as
smart wearable fitness bands are yet to take off in India and price is a
major factor.
According to Machina Research data cited at the TiE panel,
the global market for IoT in 2020 will be worth $373 billion in revenue,
with $194 billion from hardware and $179 billion from software. India will
account for $10-12 billion of this total revenue
LACK OF SKILLED RESOURCES IN INDIA

IoT adoption is also constrained by the unavailability of a skilled

workforce for implementation of nationwide IoT enabled systems.
According to the report of Labor Bureau Report of 2016 the skilled
workforce in India is only two percent of total population, which is
much lower when compared to some other developing nations. So
there is need to introduce some educational programs that help the
workforce to learn these technologies and meet the requirements in
order to support the growing ecosystem.
LEGAL REGULATORY AND RIGHTS ISSUES

There are no concrete laws present which encompasses the various layers of
IoT across the world. The gamut of devices connected to each other raises
many security issues and no existing legal laws address such exposures.
The issues lie in whether current liability laws will extend their arm for devices
which are connected to the internet all the time because such devices have
complex accountability issues.
Apart from these challenges, IoT in India would consider with some other
challenges are as given below.
APPLICATIONS IN BUISNESS WORLD

Internet of things is now growing exponentially and is reaching

different verticals and industries. India is one of the countries where
a lot of innovation is happening around IOT across different verticals
and technologies. The IOT ecosystem in India is mainly driven by 3
players: Government, Industry and Start ups.
