DPR for Widening of Bridge over Narmada Canal on NH-8C

Scope of Work:-
To carry out a Detailed Project Report, approval of proposed alignment and GAD from Irrigation Dept/SSNNL, for
widening of existing 4 lane bridge & its approaches to 6 lane bridge and approaches.

Details of Existing Bridge

 Details of Span and Width of Bridge:


No. of Span and Length: 5 Nos. of span having 21.6 m exp. to exp. length
Overall span length: 103 m length
Angle of skew: 14 ͦskew
Width of Bridge: 24.0 m overall width of bridge (11.90m+ 0.20m+11.90m)
7.5m carriageway on both sides
1.75m width of footpath on both sides

 Details of Structural configuration of bridge:


Type of super structure: RCC girder and deck slab (4 girder system)
Type of sub structure: RCC wall type abutment and pier
Type of foundation: Open foundation
Type of bearing: Elastomeric bearing

Current Status of Project

 Initial scope was to widen from 4 lane to 6 lanes by adding 1-1 lane on both side of
existing bridge.
 Thereafter, Additional 4-lane bridge with footpath proposal was finalized. Span
arrangement of 3x21.6m+2x38m with 17.275 m overall width has been proposed.
 In the Meeting held at MoRTH on 04/07/2017 it was suggested to consider Longer
span in the central Canal,
 This being a revision in scope the Consultant, submitted a revised offer of
Consultancy on 14/07/2017,
 Based on negotiations, a final revised offer submitted by Consultant on 30/08/2017,
 CE (NH) has written a letter to CE (Bridge) MoRTH for approval of additional fees on
08/09/2017,
 Meanwhile block cost for Larger Spans (1x38m+1x64.8m+1x38m) submitted by
Consultant on 10/11/2017.
 In the last meeting held at MoRTH on 16/08/2018, it was informed that Alignment
Option recommended was found in order and Span arrangement will be finalised
separately.

Further we believe, that the breakup of width indicated is as per IRC:05, 2015 & not as per IRC:84-2015)
