 Simple Past, is used for past actions that happened
either at a specific time, which can either be given
by a time phrase (yesterday, last year, etc.) or
understood from the context. Regular Verbs add -
ed to the base form or –d if the verb ends with -e
 EXAMPLE:
 I Bought a laptop.
 She did not qualify her exam.
 Did you watch that movie?
 The past continuous (also called past
progressive) is a verb tense which is used to
show that an ongoing past action was
happening at a specific moment of
interruption, or that two ongoing actions
were happening at the same time.
 EXAMPLE
 She was making preparation for the exam.
 They were not eating food.
 Were they going to their university?
 The past perfect tense is used to show that
something happened before another action in
the past. It can also be used to show that
something happened before a specific time in
the past.
 EXAMPLE
 I had lost my camera.
 She had not applied for some job.
 Had I thought about my future?
 The past continuous describes actions or events
in a time before now, which began in
the past and is still going on at the time of
speaking. In other words, it expresses an
unfinished or incomplete action in the past.
 EXAMPLE
 She had been watching the movie for two hours.
 They had not been doing their work since 2003.
