Psychology is the scientific study of the
mind and behavior. Psychology is a
multifaceted discipline and includes many
sub-fields of study such areas as human
development, sports, health, clinical,
social behavior and cognitive processes.
Wilhelm Wundt=The
father of Psychology.

He opened the Institute


for Experimental
Psychology at the
University of Leipzig in
Germany in 1879. This
was the first laboratory
dedicated to
psychology, and its
opening is usually
thought of as the
beginning of modern
psychology.

Occupational psychology
Clinical psychology is a broad
branch of psychology that focuses
on diagnosing and treating mental,
emotional, and behavioral
disorders. Some of the more
common disorders that might be
treated include learning
disabilities, substance abuse,
depression, anxiety, and eating
disorders.
Cognitive
psychology involves the
study of internal mental
processes—all of the things
that go on inside your brain,
including perception, thinking,
memory, attention, language,
problem-solving, and learning.
Developmental psychology is
the scientific study of how and why
human beings change over the
course of their life. Originally
concerned with infants and
children, the field has expanded to
include adolescence,
adultdevelopment, aging, and the
entire lifespan.
Evolutionary
psychology is a theoretical
approach to psychology that
attempts to explain useful
mental and trait such as
memory, perception, or
languageas adaptations, i.e.,
as the functional products of
natural selection.
Forensic psychology is a
fascinating career that
combines psychology and the
legal system. In general
terms, forensic
psychologists focus on the
application
of psychological theory and
practice to the criminal, court
and corrections systems
Health psychology is the study
of psychological and behavioral
processes in health, illness, and
healthcare. It is concerned with
understanding how psychological,
behavioral, and cultural factors
contribute to physical health and
illness. Psychological factors can
affect health directly.
NEUROPSYCHOLOGY
is the study of the
Relationship between behavior,emotion,
and cognition on the hand and brain
Function on the other
OCCUPATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY are
concerned with the performance of
people at work and in training, and with
developing an understanding of how
organisations function and how
individuals and groups behave at work.
Their aim is to increase effectiveness,
efficiency and satisfaction at work.
