Vessel
- tubular structure
containing blood.
Three Types of Blood Vessels
Arteries
Carries oxygenated blood from the heart to other
parts of the body through the aorta.
Veins
Carries deoxygenated blood from the body to the
heart through superior and inferior vena cava.
Capillaries
Smallest blood vessels that connects smallest
arteries and smallest veins.
Artery
Pulmonary Arteries - transport blood that has low oxygen
content from the right ventricle to the lungs.
(exception to the rule).
1. Arteries have
thick, elastic,
muscular walls
whereas veins have
thin walls with few
elastic fibers.
Capillaries
- smallest and the most numerous blood vessels that form
connection between the arterioles and venules.
