DEFINITION

CONFLICT

Is a process that begins when one party


perceives that another party has
negatively affected, or is about to
negatively affect something that the first
party cares about.
Conflict Defined

Conflict occurs whenever:


– Disagreements exist in a social situation over
issues of substance.
– Emotional antagonisms cause frictions
between individuals or groups.
Exmpl : Team Leader and Members conflict ,
other party come to solve

Task Conflict
 Conflicts over content and goals of
the work.

Relationship Conflict
 Conflict based on interpersonal
relationships.
Process Conflict
 Conflict over how work gets done.
Levels of conflict.

– Intrapersonal conflicts.

•Approach-approach conflict.
•Avoidance-avoidance conflict.
•Approach-avoidance conflict.

•Occurs between two or more individuals who
are in opposition to one another.

•Occurs between unions and organizations employing their

organizations subject to their surveillance.

 Functional (or constructive) conflict.
– Results in positive benefits to individuals, the group,
or the organization.

 Dysfunctional (or destructive) conflict.


– Works to the disadvantage of individuals, the
group, or the organization.
