communication.
He found the importance of audience role in

This is more focused on public speaking than
interpersonal communication.
CRITICISM IN ARISTOTLE’S MODEL OF
COMMUNICATION

There is no concept or feedback. It is one way


from speaker to audience.
There is no concept of communication failure
like noise and barriers.
The model can only be used in public speaking.

Often called the telephone model
Gave us the concept of “noise”.
It asserts that the message sent by the source
(speaker) is not necessarily the message received by
the destination (listener). Due to the intervention of
“noise” or anything that hampers the communication.

• Wilbur Schramm is considered as the father of mass


communication.
• This model is more concern with the concepts explain
why communication breakdown occurs.
• Schramm, asserts that communication can take place
if and only if there is an overlap between field of
experience of the speaker and field of experience of
the listener.

 tells us that communication is circular and continuous,


without beginning and the end.
EUGENE WHITE- contributed the concept of feedback
to the field of communication.

Occurs when the message or the feedback is


not sent or received properly- at least in the way
that sender intends- or is not received by the
concerned party altogether
FIELD OF EXPERIENCE

It is everything that can make a person unique,


everything he/she has ever learned, watched, seen,
heard, read and studied. It is practically everything that
happened in his/her life.
FEEDBACK

Is the perception by the speaker about the


response of the listener. The speaker can only
receive feedback if the speaker is monitoring the
listener.
