HISTORY
❖ “What held the society together was the theory of social obligation that sprang
from the very nature of the society, and was understood from a theological
point of view as related to a heirarchically ordered universe ultimately ruled
over by God. Consequently, Aquinas and other medieval philosophers and
theologians did not have a theory of individual or social obligations. This
clearly implied that social obligations took priority over individual desires or
wants. As a result, claims against society were made in terms of clearly
specified social responsibilies that were proper to various roles within the
society”

RIGHTS
