Music: From Big Bands

to Synthesizers

 NOTICE
This presentation will only discuss modern music, meaning we will explore
music from the 19th century to these days.
We can begin to talk about music from the times of Romans and Greeks. For
example, Pope Gregory (540-604 AD) is credited with moving the progress of
sacred music forward and developing what is now called Gregorian Chant, one
of the oldest music forms.
Also, the music genres described herein are, to my personal opinion, the
most relevant, however, there are many others not included in this
presentation.
 But first… What is music?
• The Oxford dictionary defines it as: “the art of combining vocal or
instrumental sounds (or both) to produce beauty of form, harmony, and
expression of emotion”
• Not to be mistaken with sound or noise.
