• High-income economy and has high living standards
• Chile is a member of OECD(Organisation for Economic Co-operation
and Development ), joining in 2010.
• Chile is a founding member of the United Nations, the Union of
South American Nations (UNASUR) and the Community of Latin
American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
GEOGRAPHY
• Deserts: north
• Ice : south
• The Andes: east
• Pacific ocean: west
• Surface covers 4200 km length
coastline & 117km(wide)
• Geographers divide the country into 5 regions,
each having its own flora, fauna and climate.
• Borders Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Drake passage

1. Far north: Atacama Desert . Cu & nitrate rich deposits.
Andes plateau.
2. Near North: Semi arid climate. Narrowest area.

vineyard). Andes loses height (south)
4. Southern Zone: Araucania & lake district. Rivers
descend from mountains. Fishing.
5. Austral zone: (Glacial) Sub polar oceanic climate(west).
