How to Reduce Fractions
form
One way to reduce fractions is to find the greatest
common factor of the numerator and the
denominator.

Steps to follow:
- Write down the factors for the numerator and the
denominator
- Determine the largest factor that is common
between the two
- Divide the numerator and denominator by the
greatest common factor
- Write down the reduced fraction
WALT: simplify fractions using
factors to make the simplest
formthe fraction by finding the highest common
 Reduce
factor of the numerator and the denominator

- Write down the factors

- Determine the largest factor
- Divide the numerator and
denominator with the highest
common factor
- Write down the reduced fraction
WALT: simplify fractions using
factors to make the simplest
form
WALT: simplify fractions using
factors to make the simplest
1 – Find the highest
form
common factor
2 – Select the highest
common factor
(number) that fits into
the numerator and the
denominator
3 – Divide the highest
common factor that
fits into the numerator
and the denominator
4 – Write the simplified
