Narogong Root Cause Analysis – February 2013

1. Kiln stop due to inlet chute 484-PF1 blocking & IDO tank low level
(Stop date 15.02.2013 06:37:00, Duration 17:98 hrs)
 Symptoms
- At 14 Feb at 21:38, Kiln was stopped due to 474-HS1 jammed. Kiln started again
at 14 Feb 22:17
- Coal Mill was failed to start for 3 times due to WF slipped.
- At 15 Feb 00:23, 484-PF could not deliver fine coal to Main Burner when the fine
coal bin level is already low: 21 tons.
- At 15 Feb 00:36 Coal Mill could be started well. But even though fine coal bin
level already full again, 484-PF still could not deliver fine coal to Main Burner,
while IDO tank level is already low. Then Kiln was stopped at 06:37
- It was found if bottom bin & Pfister’s chute were plugged by lump fine coal.
- Also It was found if Bin Exhaust Bag Filter & Dedusting line was plugged by fine
lump coal, eventhough Bin Exhaust Fan still running during this period

 Root Cause
- Lump material blockage at inlet chute of 484-PF1
- Improper fine coal bin dedusting function and wet fine coal material due to low
drying capacity
 Action
- Cleaning inlet chute 484-PF1 and dedusting line Done
- Installl additional exhaust bag filter system to improve dedusting capacity
- Replace Coal Mill tyre & table to improve grinding capacity then supporting drying
capacity
- Add coating layer inside Fine Coal Bin surface
- Installation control valve for hot gas bypass at Coal Mill to improve drying
efficiency
- check leakage at solenoid aeration, filter aeration replacement
- Install shut-off valve of main supply plant air to Bin
