CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
1.0 Introduction
Introduce the topic and briefly explain the theory and concepts.
1.1 Literature Survey
Author/s et al. [1] Objective of the work; Methodology; Results and Inferences.
Example:
D. Ratna et al. [1] investigated the influence of OMMT in neat vinylester resin on mechanical, thermal and moisture
barrier properties. OMMT clay particles, C-10A and C30B were dispersed into neat vinylester resin by ultrasonication
method and morphology of the dispersed clay in the nanocomposites formed during polymerization was characterized
by XRD and found that intercalated nanocomposites were formed. TGA and DMTA tests showed a decrease in Tg in
both VE/C-10A and VE/C-30B nanocomposites. The tensile, flexural and impact properties showed an improvement in
mechanical properties due to nanoclay incorporation. Also a significant decrease in water absorption of the VE
nanocomposites was found.
Mallina Venkata Timmaraju et al. [2] …….

At the end of Literature survey, next para should summarize the overall
viewpoint of the literature survey and establish the gap need to be
addressed. The objective of the present work has to be derived from the
established literature gap. Finally the specific objective of the present work
has to be highlighted.

Example:
Review of Literature [1-20] cited the importance and various applications of polymer
nanocomposites outlining the need for examination of nanoclay dispersion in polymers and
their influence on moisture diffusion, mechanical properties under severe service conditions.
A detailed study of polymer nanocomposites under hygrothermic conditions is not reported
and the degradation behavior not studied. Hence, the main objective of this research was to
experimentally investigate the effects of hygrothermal ageing on long-term durability,
moisture diffusion, and fatigue and fracture behaviour of FRP nanocomposites. The present
study was an attempt to investigate the effects of exposure in hygrothermal environment at
60 °C on the moisture diffusion behaviour and mechanical properties of Cloisite-15A /
Vinylester / E-glass nanocomposites.
