Coyle Elementary School

• Rich academic instruction in Literacy, Writing, Math, integrated
Science and Social Studies, Art, Physical Education
• Multiple measure assessments: use of school based, district, and
state assessments to monitor student learning
• Parent Teacher Association (P.T.A.)
• Community partnership with Mercy San Juan Medical Center,
Citrus Heights Kiwanis Club
• 100% Intervention Teacher
• Speech and Language Specialist: by referral.
• Discovery Club: a before and after school child care/enrichment program
serving children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
• Bridges After School Program
• Special Day Classes for Emotionally Disturbed students: when
appropriate, students are mainstreamed into the regular classroom and
receive additional assistance from specially trained staff.
• Head Start/State Preschool Programs: These Early Childhood Education
Programs provide educational and developmental opportunities for
children from eligible low-income and special needs families.

At Coyle Elementary, a
free/fixed reduced food
program is offered due
to socioeconomically
disadvantaged families.
Coyle is a Title 1 school.
They offer a variety of
food along with a
salad/fruit bar everyday
to provide healthy
nutrition for the
students. Fruits and
vegetables are offered to
promote a healthy living
diet.
Morning Pledge and
Mindfulness
Every Morning at Coyle, the whole
student body says the Cougar Pledge
along with Mindfulness readings and
meditations. Students focus on their
breath and center themselves for the
day.

Students also partake in reciting Cougar


PRIDE
Positively Present, Respectful, Have
Integrity, Determined, and Have Empathy.
Students also say the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Staff at Coyle have
a Mindfulness Corner in
their Staff Room filled
with ideas and skills to
share ideas of a mindful
classroom. A massage
chair is offered with oil
scents, relaxing, music,
and a Himalayan salt Sharing Ideas
lamp to release any
stress.

Kindergarten through Third Grade, Coyle
Classrooms use a Clip Up/Down Board to
monitor each students performance
throughout the day. Students can start off
on the wrong or right foot, and turn around
their day for better or worse depending on
their choices.
