Today’s artists work in and respond to global
environment that is culturally diverse,
technologically advancing, and multi-faceted.”

artist but is reflective of the world that we live in

CONTEMPORARY ART
APPROPRIATION in art is the use of pre-existing objects or
images with little or no transformation applied to them. In
the visual arts, to appropriate means to properly adopt,
borrow, recycle or sample aspects (or the entire form) of
human-made visual culture.
Appropriation is the concept that the new work re-
contextualizes whatever it borrows to create the new work.
In most cases the original 'thing' remains accessible as the
original, without change.
PERFORMANCE has evolved to “emphasize
spontaneous unpredictable elements of chance”
Performance artist have tried to interpret various
human activities, from ordinary activities such as
chores, routines, and rituals, to socially relevant
themes such as poverty, commercialism and war.
SPACE- the form is performed and positioned
in specific spots, especially in public spaces
HYBRIDITY – artist are now as innovative
as ever. It is an art of mixing unlikely
materials to produce an artwork.
TECHNOLOGY- artist used
technology in the creation
and dissemination of works
of art
