Some Rainforest Specs

 2.12 million Square miles

 430 species of mammals
 378 species of reptiles
 400 species of amphibians
 3000 species of fishes
 2.5 million different types of insects
Climate and Weather

 The climate of the Rainforest is incredibly

humid considering it gets about 250
centimeters of rainfall each year.
 Since the rainforest biome is closer to the
equator, it gets more direct sunlight than
other biomes on earth.
 The direct sunlight makes it more
humid because it causes more
evaporation, which means more
water vapor in the air.
 Also when the warm air meets the cold air
in the atmosphere it condenses and forms
clouds, which eventually produce rain
which is why the rainforest is so rainy.
 Temperature: 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit
 Precipitation: 500-650 millimeters

How someone would
survive
Shelter

 We will be traveling between the months of January, February, and March.

 This time throughout the year there is less precipitation and the temperature is
lower than the summer months
 Because there are hundreds of different types of trees in the rainforest,
shelter would be the easier of the necessities.
 There are many species of trees that reach up to 100 feet and larger.
Because of the many different snakes, bugs, and other land animals, shelter
would be safer in the trees.
 Leaves also make good shingles for a roof over the shelter in the trees
Food

 There are many different types of mammals that can be

caught, cooked, and eaten.
 Catching animals is the hardest part of the challenge.
 To catch the animals you need to make traps such as
nooses and fish traps.
 Using thin strips of leaves and tying it into a certain knot
makes a noose.
 Using sticks and thin strips leaves for rope you can make a
fish trap that Is very effective to catch fish.
 After catching the animals you’d have to make fire to
cook it because eating raw meat isn’t safe for you. Fire
burns out the bacteria in foods and in water.
Food (Cont.)

 There are many meats and

proteins to eat in the rainforest
but there also many different
types of fruits
 Some fruits include: pineapple,
bananas, coconut, and grapefruit
 Most of these fruits grow on trees
which could make them harder to
reach but fruits such as pineapples
grow on the ground which could be
easy to access.
