Myth, Image and
Illusion
This flower is considered as a
favourite flower of Mahadeva, so it is
offered on this very day.
Some people have a belief thagt God
Shiva appears in the image of Buddha.
Others believe, Buddha comes to visit
Shiva on this day.
Some other believe that this colourful
image represents Buddha so God Shiva
remains happy from this flower
offering.
Why not Buddhist but
Hindu tradition ?
However this is only a Newari tradition
since long history (Unanimous exact
date and time).
The other fact is no Buddhists visit on
this special day as a devotee of
Buddha.
This is a tradition continued by
Guthiyar and Bised Naike of Pashupati
Development Trust (Currently)
It is a Chhayan Darshan of
Pashupatinath not the Image of
Buddha offered to Pashupatinath.
The Confusion was created by its
colour and shape among the people.
This is only a Hindu tradition. In
Newari Language Tikin Chha
(Tikin=Flower, Chha= to offer)
