for fuel-containing materials

Safety Criteria
• The total weight of the container shall not exceed 2 tons;
• The dose rate on the surface of the container shall not exceed 2
mSv/h;
• The maximum heat load shall not exceed 0,99 kW;
• Criticality safety of fuel-containing material shall be ensured.

Input data for calculation depletion
Fuel concentration:
C(235U) =2%;
C(234U) =0,0089*C(235U), %;
C(236U)=0,0046*C(235U), %;
C(238U)=100%-(C(235U) - C(234U) - C(236U) ), %;

Irradiation time = 715 effective days


Decay time = 33 years =12045 days

Conclusions
• Identified the basic safety criteria for the protective
container;
• Created cross section library for the determination of
the isotopic composition of fuel;
• Calculated the dose rate on the surface of the simple
container, which is 5.82 mSv/h.

Plans for the future:

to calculate the criticality behavior of fuel-containing


material in the container, sensitivity study for isotopic
composition and develop a more precise and efficient
design of the container.
