Queen are a British rock band formed in London in 1970. Their
classic line-up was Freddie Mercury (lead vocals and piano), Brian May (lead guitar and vocals), Roger Taylor (drums and vocals), and John Deacon(bass guitar). Their earliest works were influenced by progressive rock, hard rock heavy metal and opera, but the band gradually ventured into more conventional and radio-friendly works by incorporating further styles, such as arena rock and pop rock. History: In 1968 Brian May, Roger Taylor and Tim Staffell created a band named “Smile”. It was their first attempt to create a rock band. At a concert Tim Staffell became friends with Farrokh “Freddie” Bulsara a fellow student from Zanzibar of Indian Parsi descent. In 1970 Staffell left the band for another one and Freddie that changed his name to Mercury became the vocalist of the group and proposed the name “Queen” which was accepted. In 1971 John Deacon was settled in the band as a basist guitarist and they began to record their first PRS for album “Queen”. It is a six-minute song that contains an intro, a ballad segment, a guitar solo, an opera passage, a hard rock part and a reflective coda. Freddie realize that he is a homosexual and because a lack of friends he made at his home parties with other homosexuals and cocaine. In this period he infected himself HIV/AIDS and realized that his single Queen’s statue on friend betrayed him and tangled the Hollywood Walk of Fame band’s reunion. After he tried a lot he succeeded to reunion the band. In January 1985, Queen headlined two nights of the first Rock in Rio festival at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and played in front of over 300,000 people each night and in front of the biggest-ever TV audience of 1.9 billion. The Boston Globe described it as a "mesmerising performance". Highlights from both nights were released on VHS as Queen: Live in Rio, and was broadcast on MTV in the US. On the evening of 24 November 1991, Mercury died at the age of 45 at his home in Kensington. The cause of death was bronchial pneumonia resulting from AIDS. After his death only 2 members remained in band and tried to keep it alive. In 1999, England honored the Queen band by releasing a postage stamp commemorating Freddie Mercury. Queen Band’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” led to a fan club which is the world’s longest running fan club for a rock group according to Guinness World Record. Also, Queen’s albums had spent a total of 1322 weeks i.e. 26 years on the UK Album chart creating the record of the longest running album of a rock band on the UK album chart.
