 When used with “always”, Present Continuous indicates an
annoying action.

 Present Continuous is also used for fixed arrangement in the
future.

PRESENT SIMPLE
Present Simple is also used to talk about general
plan/schedule/timetable.
EX: I should wake up early tomorrow. My plane departs at 04.30
a.m.

SIMPLE PAST vs PAST CONTINUOUS

We often use Past Simple and Past Continuous together


to say that something happened in the middle of something else.

PAST PERFECT vs PAST SIMPLE
Sometimes, Past Perfect and Past Simple are used in a sentence.
In this case, actions expressed by Past Perfect happened before the
Past Simple.

 Past Perfect Continuous  to show that something started


in the past and continued up until another time in the past.

 "For five minutes" and "for two weeks" are both durations
which can be used with the Past Perfect Continuous.

 Notice that this is related/similar to the Present Perfect


Continuous; however, the duration does not continue until
now, it stops before something else in the past.
PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS
 They had been talking for over an hour before Tony arrived.
 She had been working at that company for three years when it
went out of business.
 How long had you been waiting to get on the bus?
 Mike wanted to sit down because he had been standing all day at
work.
 James had been teaching at the university for more than a year
before he left for Asia.
 A: How long had you been studying Turkish before you moved to
Ankara?
B: I had not been studying Turkish very long.
FUTURE PERFECT TENSE
 Indicates that an action will have been
completed (finished or perfected) at some point
in the future.
 We are interested on the result/achievement in
the future.

The formula is:


“will + Present Perfect”
FUTURE PERFECT TENSE
EXAMPLE:
1. By this time next week, I will have
worked on this project for twenty days.
2. By 6 pm tonight, I will have finished this
book.
3. By this time tomorrow, he will have
arrived.
Will vs Going To

WILL GOING TO
