Can we consider the Basic Exit Assessment


(BEEA) as example of testing and Assessment
? Explain.
BEEA Objectives:
To determine if the learners meeting the learning
standards help provide information to improve
practices;
Access/evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of
education service delivery using learning
outcomes as indicators and provide empirical as
basis for curriculum learning delivery assessment
policies and reviews and policy formulation.
The results are presented in terms of proficiency
levels with corresponding scores.
What distinction do you make between
“Testing” and “Assessment”?
The distinction between testing and
assessment is that, testing is:
 used to examine someone knowledge of something to
determine what the person knows or has learned.
 It measures the level of skill or knowledge that has
been reached.
 Is a product that measures a particular behavior or set
of objectives.
 Are done after the instructions has taken place, it’s a
way to complete the instruction and yet the results.
 The results of the test don’t have to be interpreted.
While Assessment is…
Is a systematic process of documenting of
using empirical data on the knowledge, skills,
attitudes, and beliefs.
Is used during and after the instruction has
taken place.
The received results of your assessment is
interpreted. And if in case needed it can be
altered.
Results needs to be interpreted.
Can we consider the Basic Exit
Assessment (BEEA) as example of
Testing and Assessment ? Explain
No. BEEA determines if the learners meeting the learning standards
help provide information to improve practices. It is an exit assessment
it is done after the instructions has taken place, it’s a way to complete
the instructions which are the learning standards. When students take
the basic exit assessment you cannot alter the results anymore. Since
testing is the product that measures a particular behavior or set of
objectives the results don’t have to be interpreted. Why not an
assessment, because an assessment is done during and after the
instruction has taken place, it needs to be interpreted. It can be
changed if needed. Since it is already an exit exam your cannot alter
the results anymore.
