• Introduction
• Aims of NTTF
• Manufacturing
• Observation
• Conclusion
INTRODUCTION
•Nettur technical training foundation is a private education
trust in India, with campuses all over south India.
•It was established in 1963 with swiss co-operation.
•In order to provide purposeful quality education with good
employment opportunities
•NTTF implements its programme of technical training in
mechanical engineering,electronics,information technology .
•It operates in more than 20 training centers, located at
Bangalore,Chennai,Kochi,Dharwad,Tumkur etc
AIMS OF NTTF

• To promote technical training in India, particularly in the field

of Tool and Die making,Electronics.
• To organize the running of the training centre,Polytechnics or
other institutions for technical education in India.
• To help poor and deserving students with scholarships.
• To arrange for course of lectures, classes, seminars and
conferences for the diffusion of the technical and industrial
knowledge.
MANUFACTURING
SHEET METAL
• Sheet metal is a metal formed by an industrial process into thin
flat pieces.
• It is one of the fundamental forms used in metal working and it
can be cut and bent into a variety of shapes .Countless
everyday objects are constructed with sheet metal.
• The cutting operations are done by using shearing machines or
more advanced CNC machines.
SHEET METAL OPERATIONS

• The art of sheet metal lies in the making of different shapes by

adopting different operations .The major types of operations
are given below
 Shearing (cutting)
 Bending
 Drawing
 Squeezing
Shearing
• Cutting to separate large sheets ;or cut part perimeters or make
holes in sheets
Bending
• Straining sheet around a straight axis
Drawing
• Forming of sheet into convex or concave shapes
Squeezing
• Forming of sheet by gripping and pressing firmly –coining and
embossing
SHEARING MACHINE

Construction
• The machine consists of a shear table,work- holding
device, upper and lower blades, and a gauging device.
• The shear table is the part of the machinery that the
workpiece rests on while being sheared.
• The work-holding device is used to hold the workpiece in
place and keep it from moving or buckling while under
stress.
Shearing machine
Working
• A shear force is applied that will cut off of a sheet. The cut off
blank becomes the workpiece.
• When you apply a high pressure tool through a metal plate and
remove part of the metal, the process is called shearing.
• When the metal is inserted into hydraulic machines ,it is
secured by clamps so it does not shift under high pressure .
• To ensure that the cut is smooth and even for a 90 degree cut a
squaring arm or back gauge must be used.
PUNCHING MACHINE
Working
In this single punch press ,the compaction force on the fill
material is exerted by only the upper punch while the lower
punch is immovable such as action equivalent to hammering
motion
INJECTION MOULDING
Injection moulding
• Injection moulding is a manufacturing process for producing
parts by injecting molten material into a mould.
• Injection moulding can be performed with a host of materials
mainly includes metals,glasses,elastomers and most
commonly thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers.
• Injection moulding is used to create many things such as wire
spools, bottle caps ,automotive dash boards etc
PRESSURE DIE CASTING

A process is similar to injection moulding , pressure die

casting is a metal casting process in which molten metal is
forced into a mold cavity to create metal parts.
OBSERVATION

• Basic working of conventional and non-conventional

machining.
• Workshop layout planning.
• Metrology and inspection department.
• Tool design and layout.
• Basic press tools and moulds.
• Press machine and injection moulding machine.
MANUFACTURING COMPONENTS
CONCLUSION

• It was wonderful experience at “NETTUR TECHNICAL

TRAINING FOUNDATION” where I gained a knowledge
about the sheet metal manufacturing products. I hope this
experience will surely will helpful in future.
