Magang sebagai bentuk experiential


learning
Magang merupakan salah satu bentuk dari Experiential Learning –
suatu proses pembelajaran dari pengalaman atau learning by doing.

Experiential learning ‘mendorong’ pembelajar dalam suatu pengalaman


dan melakukan refleksi atas pengalamannya untuk mengembangkan
kompetensi baru, sikap baru atau cara berpikir yang baru

Critical reflection is more than just ‘thinking about’
or ‘thoughtful’ practice. It is a way of ‘critiquing’
our practice in a systematic and rigorous way –
helping us to carefully consider what is good
and what could be improved.

Critical reflection can enable individuals to


develop greater self awareness by helping them
to:
• Evaluate their current practice
• Think about what is desirable
• Consider what is possible
• Develop new understanding that informs actions

did you think about?
Describe what you thought and felt during the
experience:
• How did you feel and what did you think prior to the
experience?
• How did you feel and what did you think during the
experience?

did you think about?
Evaluation: What was good or bad about
the experience?
• What do you think went well in the situation? Did you
learn anything useful as a result of taking part in what
went on?
• Did anything give you cause for concern – either in what
others did or what you did? Was there something which
you would not wish to experience again?
• How did the experience end? Was the experience
complete (was there a resolution) or incomplete?
Evaluation: What was good or bad about
the experience?
Analysis: What sense can you make of it
all?
• Using secondary sources (books, journals, websites etc),
this is where you explore some of the key issues raised in
the scenario.
• Show the knowledge you acquire from secondary sources
• Show that you understand what causes the problem
• Show that you understand the recommended solution
• Show that you recognise that organizations/companies
are unique and may not respond to care in the way the
textbooks/journal articles lead you to expect.

all?
Conclusion:
Sums up what you learnt from the experience. Think about the
situation again, using the information that has been collected so
far

• How could this have been a more positive experience for


everyone involved?
• If you were faced with the same situation again, what would
you do differently?
• What did I learn about myself during the experience (positive
and/or negative)?
• What did I learn about my current knowledge or level of
practice (strengths and weaknesses)?
• Did the experience achieve any of my learning goals or meet
any of my required competencies?
• What skills do you need to develop, so that you can handle this
kind of situation better?

Bab mengenai refleksi diri berisi refleksi dari mahasiswa mengenai pengalaman aktivitas
magang yang lebih terkait dengan pengalaman-pengalaman non teknikal, misalnya
pengalaman bekerjasama, berdiskusi, berkomunikasi dan lain sebagainya. Mahasiswa
diharapkan menggunakan catatan yang terdapat pada jurnal untuk menulis bab ini.
Mahasiswa diharapkan dapat menulis mengenai refleksi diri dengan mengikuti tahapan
dari siklus Gibbs, sebagai berikut:

5.1 Deskripsi
Mahasiswa menjelaskan secara ringkas dan padat serta dilengkapi dengan rincian
yang spesifik dan relevan mengenai beberapa pengalaman yang akan menjadi refleksi
diri

5.2 Perasaan dan Pikiran


Mahasiswa menjelaskan mengenai apa yang dirasakan dan atau dipikirkan selama dan
setelah pengalaman tersebut

Mahasiswa mengevaluasi (memberikan penilaian) mengenai hal-hal yang berjalan dengan
baik (positif - bermanfaat) dan buruk (negatif) dari magang

5.4 Analisis
Mahasiswa memberikan analisis mengenai faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan hal-hal dapat
berjalan dengan baik atau buruk dari magang
Analisis dilakukan dengan menggunakan hasil observasi mahasiswa selama magang,
pengalaman hidup sebelumnya, dan juga sumber-sumber bacaan yang relevan
Analisis yang baik dilakukan dengan mendalam sampai ditemukan sumber-sumber utama
terjadinya hal-hal yang baik dan buruk tersebut

5.5 Kesimpulan
Mahasiswa memberikan kesimpulan mengenai apa yang dipelajari dari magang, termasuk
apa yang dipelajari tentang dirinya (kelebihan dan kekurangannya), apa yang dipelajari
tentang pengetahuan yang dimilikinya (sudah mencukupi atau masih kurang)
Mahasiswa menyampaikan rencana masa depannya, baik setelah lulus maupun rencana
yang lebih panjang, misalnya apakah akan melanjutkan bekerja di tempat magang atau di
pekerjaan yang sama dengan pekerjaan yang dilakukan di tempat magang, atau
pengalaman magang dijadikan bekal untuk bekerja di tempat lain

5.6 Tindak Lanjut


Mahasiswa memberikan penjelasan mengenai hal-hal yang sudah dan akan dilakukan
untuk memperbaiki dirinya dalam rangka mempersiapkan rencana masa depannya,
termasuk hal-hal yang menjadi prioritas untuk perbaikan diri
Mahasiswa memberikan rencana tindak lanjut yang spesifik, termasuk jadwal, untuk
perbaikan dirinya dalam setahun mendatang
