Grade 1
Robotics curriculum Outcome
16 Sessions
 We taught students how to design, construct and program robots
using components such as motors, sensors, wheels, axles, beams,
connectors and gears.
 Robotics construction and programming using robotics education
kit for teaching computational thinking, problem solving,
programming and engineering skills to elementary school level kids
 Learn & Practical Hands-on on Robotics
 Students will gained knowledge on basic programming constructs
such as control flow, loops, branches and conditions using a visual
programming environment.

Session 1

 What is robotics?
 Discover Robots on our daily life
 What we need from Robots
 Different types of Robot
 The Human Brain Vs. Robot Brain
 The Human Actuators Vs. Robot Actuators
 The Human Senses Vs. Robot Senses

 Session Activity
First time Robot construction using the processor, sensors, motors
& programming
Session 2

 Wheels and Axles on daily life

 Wheels Vs. Tracked
 Identify where friction might be found
 Separate axles Vs. Single fixed axle Wheels
 Concept of how power of 2 different wheels differ from each other,
when any vehicle take turn

 Session Activity
Simple Remotely Controlled Vehicle construction with discussion of
Motors & Wheals Concept
Session 3

 Introduction to Wedo 2.0 software

 Introduction to Wedo programming blocks
 How to Connect the Ipad to Smart hub
 Try programming blocks such as play, loop switch
 Drive forward for rotations programming blocks

 Session Activity
Simple Satellite Robot construction & Changes in programming blocks
to move the robot in backward direction
Session 4

 What is Gears 1
 Discover Gears on Our life
 Driven gear & Drive gear
 Using gears to Change the Speed
 Identify gears as either spur or crown gear

 Session Activity
Build a simple Turbine robot model which will gear up and increase
speed of rotation
Session 5

 Advanced Gears Design, What is Gears 2

 Discover Gears on the machines
 Arrange gears so they turn in the same direction, in opposite
directions, or at 90 degrees to each other as desired
 Recognize that how fast or how slowly one gear makes another turn
depends on the number of teeth on the gears and their position
 Count teeth on gears and count rotations

 Session Activity
Build a Train robot which will gear down and decrease speed of
rotation model construction & gear up to increase speed of rotation
Session 6

 Pulleys on our life

 Difference between pulleys and gears
 Difference between pulleys and sheaves
 Identify a pulley wheel
 Arrange pulleys so that the drive pulley turns in the same direction as
the driven pulley
 Arrange pulley wheels so they turn in the same direction, in opposite
directions, or at 90 degrees to each other as desired

 Session Activity
Build a Truck model which will gear down and decrease speed of rotation
Session 7

 Working of light & Motion sensor

 Concept of how we can see the things around us, reflection of the
light etc.
 Color Detection Programing blocks

 Session Activity
Simple Vehicle & Rover Robot construction with Motion Sensor to avoid
any object
