Project
Overview Purpose: Understand the effects and
issues surrounding lead in our community
and how it affects growth

Hypothesis: If one plant is given spring


water and another water with lead, then
the lead plant will grow less and die first

How did the project work?

● One plant was given spring water


● 2nd plant was given local tap water
● Tap water grew faster, but had abnormalities
● Tap died first

● Uninformed on environmental issues

● Informed them on the research about contaminated water
● The purpose was to inform student on the issue and how to approach it
● Using facts of our own research to convince of the issue that can harm
their health

ACTIVE CITIZEN: We utilized the talents and resources around us to lead efforts
to improve our community by addressing social problems in our community to
middle schoolers.

CRITICAL THINKER: We synthesized relevant information from reliable sources


to solve our community’s problem of lack of information.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATORS: We articulated our ideas in a manner that 7th


grade middle schoolers would understand so that they can be informed

WILLING COLLABORATOR: We all contributed to the group by holding people


accountable, taking initiative, and including all members equally.
