Early Life Of Mrs. Bista
• After marriage, she went to paris with her husband for his further
study(PhD), back to Kathmandu after completion of PhD
• She started working at her relative’s cow farm, instead of sitting idle
in house
• She left the farm after 4 years, because she did not like to work there

Lesson#1, wherever you work, first of all you should have


knowledge in that sector and along with the knowledge you should
have interest too.
What next?
Her interest grew on plants nursery so she searched
for an institute that could provide her training on
nursery skills but could not find any.
One day she saw an ad in newspaper which was
targeted to housewives.
She took training from there about how to preserve
homemade food and how to promote female
entrepreneurship.
Turning Point of Mrs. Bista’s life
- The training drove her to pickle business

- “Navaras”, the product name chosen by Mrs. Bista at
the time of training
- Initial investment Rs. 20,000
(3 partners)
- For the first three years her working area was kitchen
Lesson#2, If you are passionate about you idea, don’t listen to negative
criticism. Believe in yourself, and just do it.
Lesson#3, Hard work is the bedrock of every successful
business

Smell of pickle
Her husband warned her since she was working at home and
the colleagues of her husband has started noticing about the
smell of pickle. So now she has to shift her work outside from
the house.
Lesson#4, Don’t be afraid of competition, if you
believe in your product and do bring out new products
(variety) to attract new customers.
Mrs. Bista says “There are two evidences that I want
to share regarding the perception of woman in
business in our society”.

One day in an exhibition one man said with her that


he was buying her product only because she was a
woman and she became angry and refused to sell her
product on the basis of her gender.

Lesson#5, In Nepali society business-women are not taken


seriously but that as a strong motivation to prove them wrong
Lesson#6, Honesty about your project and appreciation
of your employees are key to a successful business.
