Purpose

• To increase Spanish awareness of the needs


of its colony

Cortes Generales
• The Cortes Generales (literally "General Court") is the Spanish
legislature. It is a bicameral parliament, composed of the
Congress of Duties (the lower assembly) and the Senate (the high
council). The Cortes have the power to enact and amend the
constitution. Furthermore, the lower council has the power to
confirm and oust the President of the Government or prime
minister.
