What is the SPG?
 SPG: Service Provisioning Gateway.
 The SPG2800 is a universal service provisioning gateway in
Huawei IMS solution and it provides the service provisioning
interface to the BSS system of carriers.
 When the SPG2800 receives a service request from the BSS

through the northbound interface (NBI), it converts the request
to one or more ME-specific service requests and sends them to
the corresponding MEs through the southbound interface (SBI).
After receiving the service processing results from these MEs,
the SPG2800 encapsulates these results and sends them to
the BSS.
Networking and Application of the SPG2800
 The SPG2800 consists of the

System Architecture of the SPG2800
The SPG2800 system consists of

the following three layers:
 NBI
 SBI
 Intermediate layer (other
components)
IMS Service Provisioning Solution
 According to the enhanced telecom operations map (eTOM) model of the TeleManagement
Forum (TMF), the service provisioning process can be divided into the following layers:
Customer relationship management: This layer is business-oriented and accomplishes pricing,

service sales, and order processing.
Service management and operation: This layer provides a uniform service-oriented view, shields
the specific network resources that support services, and completes the configuration and
activation based on a service unit.
Resource management and operation: This layer is directly oriented to various network
resources in the network. It provides the configuration and activation of network resources.
 The SPG2800 is located in the resource management and operation layer. It provides universal
service provisioning for the core network components in the IMS solution.
 The SPG2800 works as the universal service provisioning gateway in the IMS solution,
providing flexible integration capabilities. Through the service provisioning interface of the
SPG2800, carriers or other service providers can integrate the IMS components to their own
service management systems.

System Management (2)
System Management includes the following five sections:
 Security Management
 User Management : It enables you to add or remove user accounts
and set user passwords.
 BSS Access Management: The SPG controls the access of the BSS
users to the SPG through the ACL.
 Local Configuration Management
 IP Address Management: It enables you to configure the IP
addresses of the NBI, SBI, and Portal.
 NTP Server Management
 Backup Management: It enables you to perform a local or automatic
backup.
 System Parameter Management: It enables you to configure the
copyright declaration and session timeout.
 License Management
 It enables you to upload, activate, remove, and query information
about a license file.
 Log Management
 Space Management
 Table Space Management: It enables you to manage data about
table spaces in the database, including system logs, security logs,
and service logs.
Domain Management
The Domain Management node is visible only for the
domain-based policy.
License Management
License Management enables you to upload, remove, activate, and query the control items of a
license file. When a license fails to be activated, this license is automatically rolled back.
Local Configuration Management (1)
 Local Configuration Management includes IP
Address Management, NTP Server Management,
and Backup Management.
 The commands related to NTP server management
and backup management are removed from the
OMU client; however the commands related to IP
address management can still be executed on the
OMU client.
 The commands related to module management,
setting of installation parameters, and system
switchover are required must be executed on the
OMU client.
 The System Parameter Management includes
session timeout management and copyright
declaration management.
 IP Address
Management
enables you to
add, change,
delete, and query
the IP addresses
of the NBI, SBI,
and Portal.
Backup Management includes Automatic Backup Policy and Manual Backup
 Automatic Backup

 FTP mode
 SFTP mode
 Manual Backup:
 Local backup
 Network backup
NTP Server Management enables you to set the time synchronization server to
ensure that the SPG synchronizes the system time with the server.
System Parameter Management enables you to configure the copyright
declaration and session idle limit.
 Only user in the
administrator user group
logged in through Portal
can modify the information
in local configuration
management.
 The timeout duration is
measured in minute.
Minimum: 5 minutes
Maximum: 1440 minutes
 The detailed
information of copyright
declaration can be
configured and modified.
Log Management
Log Management enables you to manage the Security Log,

System Log, Service Log, and Service Log Statistics.
Space Management
Space Management enables you to query the usage of the table space and set the
threshold of the table space for data dump at a specified interval.
Service Configuration
 Service Configuration includes the following three
sections:
 ME Management
 ME Version Management and ME Management
 Service Provisioning Management
 Importing, exporting, removing, and activating
the service flow
 Configuring the redundancy policy, including
adding, modifying, and removing an ME group,
and setting the redundancy policy of an ME
group
 Policy Management
 User Policy Management and iFC Policy
Management
ME Management
 After adding
an ME on the
SPG, the
corresponding
command
interface of
this ME is
automatically
generated.
Redundancy Management
 The HSS works in
active/standby
mode.
 The ATS works in
active/standby or
data-sharing
mode.
Service Provisioning
 The SPG analyzes the commands issued by the BSS system and processes the
corresponding service flow. Then, the SPG returns the processing results to the
BSS system and save these results.
 Service
Provisioning
requires that the
corresponding
procedure
package to be
installed on the
SPG.
Batch Management
Batch Task enables you to perform a batch of tasks at a time through MML commands.
Batch Management
Bulk Task enables you to process ATS atomic commands and ATS combination
commands in batches.

Service Provisioning Process (1)
In the service provisioning process, the SPG breaks down a combination command received
from the Portal or BSS into one or more atomic commands and sends them to MEs.
 The encapsulation of services simplifies the service provisioning process.
 To process a service request from the Portal or BSS, the SPG needs to communicate with multiple MEs
more than once and returns the service processing results to the Portal or BSS.
Service Provisioning Process (2)
1. The BSS sends a service request to the SPG through the NBI.
2. The SPG performs ACL authentication and user authentication. (If ACL
authentication or user authentication fails, the SPG returns a failure
response to the BSS.)
3. The SPG breaks down the service request into atomic commands.
4. The SPG sends these atomic commands to the corresponding MEs
through the SBI.
5. The SPG receives the service processing results from each ME.
6. After receiving the service processing results from each ME, the SPG
determines whether to combine these service processing results and
send to the BSS or continue with the service flow. If the SPG continues
to break the service results into parts, it performs step 3.
7. The SPG combines the service processing results to the BSS.
Configuring the SPG Data (1)
Configuring the SPG data on the OMU is simple.

 Step 4 Configure the SPG module.
 ADD MODULE: MID=1, MT=SPGSPU, RN=0, PN=0, SN1=0, SN2=2,
MNAME="spgspu";
 Note: There is only one process for the SPG: SPGSPU.
Configuring Data for Interworking with MEs
 The SPG
communicates
with MEs
through the
SBI and IP
address.
Creating AS Addresses
Set the iFC policy so that a proper AS can be contacted.
User Policy
 Modify the
default user
policy.
 Add a user
policy.
Domain-Based Policy
 Add a
domain-
based policy
for NBI
users.
 Add a user-
based policy
for the
Portal users.
Importing an iFC Policy
 Import an iFC policy in the SPG.
In the iFC policy, the addresses of ASs that the SPG can contact, the service
correlation, and the service processing mechanism are set.
Importing a Service Flow File
 Importing a service flow file to the SPG.
After the service flow file is imported, the service operation commands are generated
and displayed on the Service Provisioning Management interface.
Configuring Data for Interworking Between the SPG
and the BSS
Security Management The user name and password must be

the same as those set on the BSS.
The IP address of the BSS must be in the ACL

System Management includes Security Management, Local Configuration Management,
License Management, Log Management, and Space Management.

 User Management
 It enables you to add or remove a user password. The external system can connect to the SPG2800 as a
specific user.
 User Authentication
 It enables the SPG to perform ACL authentication on the BSS user, to ensure that the BSS user is
legitimate.
 Rights Management
 It enables you to add or modify operation rights.
 License Management
 It enables you to upload, activate, remove, and query information about a license file.
 Local Configuration Management
 It enables you to configure the IP addresses of the NBI, SBI, and Portal, the NTP server, and the copyright
declaration and session timeout, and perform a local or automatic backup.
 Log Management
 It enables you to query or export operation records logged by the system.
 Transmission Security
 The NBI and Portal support the HTTPS protocol that secures the transmission of messages.
Issuing Atomic Commands
When an ME version is added, the corresponding ME interface is generated. You
can click an ME instance (indicated by ME Name) to open the ME interface, on
which you can send atomic commands.

Issuing Combination Commands
The SPG breaks down a combination command to atomic commands and
sends them to the corresponding MEs based on the service flow. Then, the
SPG returns the service processing results to the BSS and logs them.
