in three aspects, they are:
1. Lack of mastering some skill of English
Example: vocabulary, grammar
2. Hard to follow the process of writing
3. There is no person who correcting directly

Definition of writing
According to Horváth (2001:5) writing is among the most complex human activities,
it need process from the development of a design idea, the capture of mental
representations of knowledge, last the capture of experience with subjects

Definition of individual picture


Individual pictures the pictures of individual person and individual objects such as a
bike, a man, an orange, and so on (Finocchiaro, 1974: 100-102).

Benefit of using picture


Wright (1989:2-4) states that pictures can contribute to: interest and motivation; a
sense of the context of the language; a specific reference point or stimulus

Previuos of the study


The previous research was done by Ramadhani (2014) student of Adi Buana PGRI
University Surabaya with tittle the influence of using picture media on students’
writing ability of descriptive text for eight grade students of SMPN 2 Sukodono

1. Population: the 8th grade students of SMPN 1 Waru
2. Sample: 30 students of 8G class as experimental
class, 30 studdents of 8A class as control class.

post-test from experiment and control class. It
was also showed the differenciate between pre-
test and post-test score from experiment and
control class. Then, the differenciate scores were
used to find the mean of experiment and control

Interpretation
 Based on the significance 5% and degree of
freedom 58 (Df), was derived t-table =2.00172
with t calculate = 7.23. From the data, it shows that
t calculate > from t table (7.23 > 2.00172). So, the
Ho (null hypothesis) was rejected and Ha
(alternative hypothesis) was accepted
 It means that there is significant influence of using
individual picture to the students’ writing
achievement of the eight students at SMPN 1 Waru
– Sidoarjo
