Four different colors of marbles are to be put into boxes. A box
should contain all four colors of marbles of different amount. There
are 18 red marbles , 36 blue marbles , 48 yellow marbles and 54
green marbles. All the boxes should contain equal amount of the 4
different colors of marbles. How many marbles will be in each box?
How many red marbles? Blue marbles? Yellow Marbles? Green
Marbles?
Can you think of a way of getting the answer to this problem?
Step 1 – Write the number horizontally
18 36 48 54

Step 2 – Find a prime number that can divide 18 36 48 54

3 18 36 48 54

Step 3 – Divide the numbers by the prime numbers and write the quotient below
3 18 36 48 54
6 12 16 18

Step 4 – Continue the process until no other prime number is common.

3 18 36 48 54
2 6 12 16 18
3 6 8 9

Step 5 – Multiply the common divisors
