LEADERSHIP

Nikita Kamath-PG-88
Why is leadership
important?
At the end of the day,
leaders are the ones
who can make or
break it; the choices
they make cause a
ripple effect on
employee
recruitment,
engagement, and
performance that
powerfully impacts a
company’s
performance.
Objectives –
Recognize and address your blind spots as a leader

capabilities

home life

◦ Activities/ Games used to demonstrate these skills-
1) Manager vs Leader-
◦ Overview :
This classic activity clearly shows the difference between being a manager and being a leader. Management and
leadership are often interchanged within the business world; however, they are two very distinct skills.
Management is essentially process/task focused and censers on the current and immediate future. Whereas,
Leadership is much more people and future focused. It includes setting culture & Direction for the organization.
What's the point from this activity ?
The aim of this activity is to clearly show the difference between managers and leaders and how every leader can
be a manager but not every manager can be a leader.
2-Leadership skills- You get what you expect
Overview-
One of the main take outs from this activity is that as a manager and a team leader you will only get what
you inspect. You have to constantly evaluate each of your team member’s performance and ensure they
have the right skills to perform their task perfectly and always be ready to offer your guidance to ensure
they are doing the best job possible
◦ 3) BEST TEAM MEMBER
◦ Highlights and Learning-
The list usually range between 70-95% interpersonal skills. Stress that this does not mean that technical skills are
less important but just highlights how important interpersonal skills are and the impact they have on quality,
quantity of performance and how they complement innovation and learning technical skills.
Highlight the importance of soft skills and the importance of interpersonal relations in the workplace
Ask participants how they feel when working with someone who displays these characteristics?
This activity can be easily used in several different variations for example in a leadership program the best team
member can be changed to be the best leader, supervisor..etc.
Conclusion of the course-

1. Ball Learning Toss. At the end, bring out a toy ball that will be tossed from one participant to the
other. The participants should be sited in a circular arrangement and as they receive the toy ball, they
should share one or more things they have learned during the training.

2. Star Shine. At the end of the activities, ask each member of the team to mention one “star moment”
they saw in another member. A “star moment” is referred to as a talent, gift or contribution a participant
had towards the group. Make sure every member of the team gets a star moment. The trainer may
suggest some star shines he/she has observed during the training.

Evaluation-
Evaluation is a slow process but is measurable by using 360 degree feedback and developmental
assignments.
