INTRODUCTION
 Traction is the force used to generate motion between a body and a
tangential surface, through the use of dry friction, though the use of
shear force of the surface is also commonly used.

 Traction Control System is an active vehicle safety feature designed

to help vehicles make effective use of all the traction available on the
road when accelerating on low-friction road surfaces. when a vehicle
without traction control attempts to accelerate on a slippery surface
like ice, snow, or loose gravel, the wheels are liable to slip.

4
4-Wheel Drive System
 A four-wheel drive is a vehicle in which all four wheels receive
power from the engine to help with steering. This makes the
vehicle easier to drive on rough roads or surfaces such as sand or
snow.

Advantages
 Reducing slip

 No delay

Disadvantages
 More hardware

 Performance drop

5
Differentials
 The differential is a device that splits the engine torque two ways, allowing each
output to spin at a different speed.

Advantages
 Simple in Action
 Wheel locking

Disadvantages
 Wear out
 Cost to build.

6
Anti Lock Braking System

 An anti-lock braking system (ABS) is a safety anti-skid braking

system used in vehicles. ABS operates by preventing the wheels from
locking up during braking, thereby maintaining tractive contact with
the road surface.

Advantages
 Wheel locking is avoided.
 Sudden throttle control.
Disadvantages
 Not effective at cornering.
 Maintenance issues.
 Not effective at Skidding.

BENEFITS OF TRACTION CONTROL

 Avoiding accidents
 Sudden twists and turns
 Slippage of the wheels
 Stopping distances
 Driving a powerful car
 Most gripping.
