PARENTAL SUPERVISION

TOWARDS E-SEXUALLY
ORIENTED MATERIALS AMONG
THE GRADE 11 STUDENTS IN THE
UNIVERSITY OF PERPETUAL
HELP SYSTEM DALTA
Introduction
In media discourse, sexual contents is
material depicting sexual behavior.
The sexual behavior involved may be
explicit, implicit sexual behavior such
as flirting, or include sexual language
and euphemisms.
Sexual content is a large factor in most
content rating systems, such as those
used for television programs, film, and
video games.
The parental views on how they supervised
their children is depending on how they
treated or how they manage especially
adolescents exposing on internet containing
sexual ads, language, pornographic image
and other sexual material.
Children as young as 8 to 9 years old
are coming across sexually explicit
material on the internet and in other
media.
There is reason to believe that early
exposure to sexually explicit material on
the internet and in other media. There is
reason to believe that early exposure to
sexual content may have some effects.
Some studies show that parents aren’t
aware that their children are being
exposed to sexually oriented contents
that are often showed on television
shows, commercials, magazines, or in
social media,
Scope and delimitation
This study aims to know the parental supervision
towards sexually oriented materials through
technology among the grade 11 HUMSS students of
the University of Perpetual Help system DALTA
during the S.Y 2018-2019.
Statement of the problem
• How aware parents are about their
adolescent’s exposure to sexually
oriented materials?
• How do parents react towards their
children’s knowledge and involvement
of these sexually related materials?
• How do parents get involved in the
restriction of their adolescent’s exposure
to sexually oriented materials?
• How do adolescents react towards
parental restriction towards sexual
materials?
To Parents:
• They will become aware of their children's
activities or exposure towards sexually oriented
materials. Through this study, parents will be able to
know the ways to prevent their children being
involved on a sexual content at a very young age.
To Students
• Especially grade 11 students will see how sexually
oriented materials can affect their behavior
towards relationship and interaction towards
sensitive topics. And for them to not be tempted to
try those inappropriate acts.
To Teachers
• This study will give them insights on the
adolescent's behavior and that they could further
guide them towards handling sexually oriented
materials.
To Internet Users

• In this study they have the opportunity to be


aware on the content that is composed from the
websites. They have a knowledge on how they
will prevent themselves from malicious sexually
themed advertisements.
To the Department of Information and
Communications Technology
• This study will benefit the DICT by giving
them awareness on the effects of sexually
oriented materials and that they could
promote a clean environment for the
internet users especially to the adolescents.
