DECAY & DAMAGE IN
STRUCTURE
INSECT
• Organic material are most valuable to insect attack
• Masonry issues
Near the jali pattern plaster was filled causing loss in its
original value.
the column ornamentation were damaged as its cracks
were filled by cement and later it was also cracked and the
cement has left its spot so decreasing its original value.
THERMAL EXPANSION
• Crack are formed in the structure
due to thermal expansion.
DAMAGE DUE TO AGING
Due to aging of stones
and environmental
factors the black spot has
occurred over stone.
DECAY
due to ageing of stones, cracks appeared and also the color of stone
changed.
Due to ageing of stones and because of environmental
conditions the building has lost its strength. Several parts of
the building is shaking with very less force applied and the
material is falling by touching it.
MOISTURE

• Rainwater penetration
into the individual
material of the structure
causes more damage.
• Faulty disposal of
rainwater is the most
frequent causes of
deterioration in the
ancient masonry.
Because of moisture the lower stones of the building are
affected due to decay, the properties of stones are changed it
has lost is original color and algae has taken place.
CLIMATIC ISSUES

Sunlight
• Sunlight is particularly
damaging on organic
materials such a
wood, textile, stone
etc.
Due to excess of heat and other environmental conditions the
stones has lost its original texture and color of the stone has
changed
Due to decay the texture of stone is changed also the floor is
damaged as due to water leakage and also because of human
activities.
Inside this arch several plastic bottles, beer bottles, cigarettes
