ELECTRONICS]
OBJECTIVE
• A new Algorithm optimized fuzzy controller will be
proposed for Load Frequency Control (LFC) of multi
area multi source system under deregulated
environment.
• The proposed method is tested on a two-area power
system.
• The results of the proposed controller will be
compared with the other controller types to illustrate
its robust performance.

INTRODUCTION
PROJECT BACKGROUND:
• In a power system, any sudden load change
causes the deviation of frequency and tie-line
power.
• Load Frequency Control (LFC)
 major operation in power system operation and
control.
 helps in supplying sufficient and reliable electric
power with good quality.
• The main aim of the LFC
maintain zero steady state errors for
frequency deviation
Tie-line power in a multi-area restructured
power system should be persistent.
• The real world power system contains
different kinds of uncertainties due to load
variations, system modeling errors and change
of the power system structure.
• Therefore, a new algorithm is formulated to
reduce the above mentioned constraints.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

• This project involves the study of simulation of load

frequency control of a two area system in
deregulated environment under different control
techniques( using fuzzy C means, Particle Swarm
Optimization , etc)
• The frequency deviation of each area (area1,
area2),overall system and the power deviation of the
tie-line of each method are formulated in a graph
form.
• Then the values like
DPM( DISCO Participation Matrix),
cpf ( contract participation factor),
Kp (gain constant) and various other values
are taken into consideration.
• With respect to the obtained values,
new algorithm for the Fuzzy system is
formulated and used in the two area system.
stability and robustness of the power system
is improved to certain extent.

EXPLANATION:

Schematic diagram of a two-area system

• In this project , we are considering a Vertically Integrated
Utility (VIU), which owns all levels of the supply chain:
generation, transmission and distribution.
• In order to improve efficiency, deregulated structure is
employed.
• Under the deregulated environment, the power system is split
into GENCOs (generation companies) and DISCOs (Distribution
companies).
• DPM:
ADVANTAGES
• In a deregulated environment, LFC acquires a
fundamental role
 enable power exchanges .
 provide better conditions for the electricity trading.
 independent of environmental conditions.
 easily scalable for large-scale power systems.
 guarantees the stability of the overall system for
large parametric values and will prove to be better
than previously proposed methods.
DISADVANTAGES
employs trial and error process.
takes much time and cost.
 In the real world, access to all of the state
variables of system is limited.
measuring all of them is impossible.
APPLICATIONS
• This method can be used in real life power
transmission systems.
